The first step involved understanding the market and target audience. Through competitive analysis and customer research, we identified key attributes that mattered most to potential customers: trust, quality, flexibility, and convenience.
User Personas
We created personas for two main audience segments:
- Busy professionals and
- Families with large homes.
User Interviews
Conducted interviews to understand users’ pain points when booking cleaning services, highlighting frustrations with unclear pricing, complicated booking processes, and unreliable services.
Brand Development
The next step was building a brand identity that aligned with Sonder Cleaning’s values of care and reliability.
- Brand Values: We emphasized warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Visual Identity: The color palette and logo were designed to evoke a sense of calm and trust. Clean lines and soft colors were used to create a sense of peace, reflecting the slogan, “We care, you relax.”
Website Structure
Once the brand identity was established, I designed the website’s structure, focusing on creating an intuitive user journey.
Information Architecture
We simplified the navigation into clear categories (Services, Pricing, Booking, About Us, Blog), ensuring users could easily find what they needed. Using a pre-built WordPress template helped streamline this process, allowing us to focus on customization.
Template Customization
Instead of starting from scratch, we modified a WordPress template to match the branding and objectives of Sonder Cleaning. This helped us keep costs low while achieving a clean, functional design that aligns with the company’s premium services.
Wireframes
Low-fidelity wireframes mapped out the site’s flow, focusing on ease of use. We prioritized a clear homepage layout with direct calls to action, like “Book Now,” making it effortless for users to schedule their first cleaning. The template’s structure was adjusted to suit our desired user flow.
Mobile Optimization
Since many users are likely to browse or book on their phones, we ensured that the WordPress template was mobile-first and responsive, making navigation seamless across devices.
User Interface Design
With the wireframes and template customizations in place, I moved into UI design, ensuring the visual elements aligned with Sonder Cleaning’s tone.
- Clean and Inviting Aesthetic: We used a minimalist design with ample white space, making navigation smooth and stress-free.
- Consistent Typography: The typography was carefully selected to enhance readability and add a touch of elegance, all within the limitations of the template.
- Imagery: High-quality, relatable images of happy families in clean homes were used to foster an emotional connection with visitors.
Booking System Integration
To make the booking process as easy as possible, we integrated the HouseCall app directly into the site.
- Streamlined Booking: Users can book their cleaning services in just a few clicks, with clear pricing and no hidden fees.
- Responsive Design: The booking system is fully responsive, allowing users to schedule services from any device.
Testing and Iteration
Before launch, we conducted usability tests to ensure the booking flow and site navigation met user expectations.
- A/B Testing: We keep testing different CTAs, hero banner designs, and page layouts to optimize conversion rates.
- Feedback and Refinement: Based on user feedback, we made small adjustments, such as making the “Book Now in 1 min” button more prominent and streamlining the FAQ section for quick answers.
Final Thoughts
The result is a user-friendly and visually appealing website that embodies the Sonder Cleaning brand. The focus on trust, reliability, and premium service is reflected in both the design and content, providing a seamless digital experience for customers looking for top-tier cleaning services in Calgary.
